Top tips on using cash machines/ATM’s

  • Be aware of your surroundings when using a cash machine.  Make sure you shield your Personal Identity Number (PIN) when entering it into a cash machine.
  • Don’t tell anybody your PIN number.
  • Don’t accept help from strangers at the cash machine.
  • Cancel your card immediately if it is retained by the cash machine, lost or stolen.
  • Never write down your PIN number and keep it with your card.
  • Report lost or stolen cards to your card issuer immediately. The 24-hour emergency number is on your last statement.
  • Report any suspicious activity on or around ATM’s to the police.
