Be seen

Be bright, be seen, this winter!

We are urging pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists to make themselves more visible as the days get shorter and the winter weather sets in.

With the onset of winter, road users will become less visible to motorists so we would like everyone to remember it is important to be seen not only at night but also in bad weather.

Easy-to-see clothing is a must. Whether you travel by foot or on two wheels, it’s crucial to invest in high visibility clothing and stay safe on the road. Bright, highly visible colours are recommended for when you go out in daylight, whereas highly reflective materials should be worn in low light conditions.

Advice for cyclists

We advise cyclists to check that they have suitable lights and that they work correctly; even if you as a cyclist can see other vehicles, can they see you?
