Volunteering with the police

If you are over 16 (or 17 in certain roles), have time to spare and are interested in making a difference to your community, the Police Volunteer Programme may be able to offer you a role that is as unique as you are. Hours are flexible and roles vary widely, including:

  • Supporting local neighbourhood policing teams to achieve local priorities
  • Being active in a local Community Speedwatch (where established)
  • Being a volunteer driver (where established)
  • Assisting with local CCTV Monitoring (where established)
  • Supporting leaders within Community Police Cadet Units (where established)
  • Assisting Neighbourhood Watch Offices and wider local schemes

This webpage will be updated in early 2010 with a list of opportunities available within your local area.  Please come back and take a look to see if there is a role you might be interested in applying for!
