Police cadet scheme
Making a difference
Our community police cadet scheme is an important part of our extended police family network. The voluntary scheme is for young people between the ages of 13 – 18.
The aims of our cadet scheme are to:
- Promote positive images of young people and the police in the community.
- Help young people develop skills, social responsibility and knowledge to make good life choices.
- Facilitate links between police and young people whilst developing an understanding of police and community working.
- Develop stronger communities, and an awareness amongst young people of their community and environment in which they live.
Who can join?
Our cadet scheme is open to all young people regardless of their career ambitions or capabilities. Cadets will develop skills and confidence that will be of benefit to communities and employers.
Our scheme is open to 13-16 year olds as a joining age, however, cadets will not be required to leave until their 18th birthday, when they will be encouraged to continue volunteering in the community.
