Make a difference
Police community support officers or PCSOs are uniformed members of the police family and play a critical role within neighbourhood policing. They provide a high visibility, reassuring presence and help to deter crime and antisocial behaviour in the communities they serve.
PCSOs are community-based and because of their ability to familiarise themselves with the community in which they work, they are extremely well placed to tackle the issues that matter most to schools, local businesses and partner agencies.
As a PCSO, you might find yourself stepping in to mediate an argument in the street, chairing a meeting of angry residents worried about local traffic issues or, you could be the first member of the police service that a known troublemaker learns to trust and confide in. You will help to break down barriers that exist in certain areas where people are scared to talk to the police.
We are not currently open for applications and therefore application packs are not available. This will be reviewed at the end of October 2010.
Please note that we have no further recruitment information, and therefore are unable to reply to any enquiries by email or telephone.
