Rape appeal, Redruth

Associated Image

Police in Redruth are appealing for witnesses following a rape in the area.

At around 0320 hours on Sunday, 23 September 2012, the female victim left the Twilight Zone nightclub.

On her way home, the 25-year-old local woman headed towards Tesco Car Park in Tolgus Hill where she encountered a group of males and females.

There were thought to be around four males and two females and the victim witnessed an argument within this group.

The victim then left and walked through Tolgus Vean and “The Leats” which is the alleyway which connects the Tesco Car Park and the nearby school grounds.

It is while walking up this alleyway that she was raped.

After the incident, the victim made her way back to the Tesco area where it is known there were taxis and other people who had left the club.

Police are very keen to talk to any members of the public who may have been in the area of the club or the Tesco car park.

It is possible that they may be potential witnesses or may have seen the suspects in this incident.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Pete Simms said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of the Twilight Zone nightclub or the Tesco car park following the club finishing at 0300 on Sunday, 23 September to make contact with our enquiry team.

“We would like them to help us by giving us information about who they may have seen in the area or any untoward behaviour they may recall.

“We are keen to speak to all potential witnesses who may be unaware that they hold information vital to this enquiry.

“Thankfully this type of crime is very rare in Devon and Cornwall and we have a team of local detectives and community officers working on this.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 quoting police reference AC/12/3787.
