Associated Image

Ilfracombe police are appealing for witnesses after a woman and man were headbutted during an assault in the town.

The two victims, from Ilfracombe, were walking a staffy type dog along the High Street when they were shouted at by two men and another woman.

An argument broke out and both victims were assaulted. The 21-year-old man ended up on the ground with a bleeding nose and head. The 20-year-old woman was not injured.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault which happened near to Zig Zags hairdressers opposite the petrol station between 8.10pm and 8.25pm on Wednesday 10 October.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to two men who managed to capture the staffy dog which broke free and ran up the road during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference CI/12/1278.
