Security and disposal

Keeping explosives safe

It is extremely important that a high level of security is maintained for all explosives and this is governed by strict regulations.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also issued guidance on the recommended standards of security.

Storing black powder (link to shooters’ powders safe storage leaflet).

Disposing of explosives

By law, all explosives must be disposed of safely and not as general waste. Waste explosives may only be disposed of in a designated disposal area or through a competent body.
