Firearms license

Introduction

On the following pages you will find advice to help you understand some of the requirements for granting the renewal of shotgun and firearms certificates.

Devon and Cornwall's firearms policy is based on ensuring that public safety is never jeopardised. Our work, including the necessary vetting of each and every applicant, inevitably takes time.

Certificates authorising the legal ownership of firearms cannot be issued without the proper and thorough investigation of each applicant's background. These steps are essential to ensuring that firearms do not fall in to the wrong hands.

Every effort is made to ensure that each application is processed quickly and efficiently - applicants can assist in this matter by ensuring that their paperwork is submitted correctly and on time.

The following pages are dedicated to helping you submit your application correctly first time. For information regarding the price and payment of certificates please visit the Fees page

To download and complete the official forms for firearm or shotgun licence applications, for references and to notify the police of the transfer of firearms. To access these forms please visit the application pages
