Child sex offender disclosure scheme

Anyone with concerns about a child being at risk from a convicted sex offender may be able to seek help from the child sex offender disclosure (CSOD) scheme.

The scheme allows those who are worried about someone that has contact with a child they know to ask police if the person has a record for child sexual offences.

The scheme has been introduced so that a parent, carer, guardian or another interested party can check the background of someone who has access to their children.

If the person does have convictions for sexual offences against children and poses a risk of causing serious harm to the child or children, the information may be disclosed.

Anyone who does have such fears should immediately call 101 and ask to speak to someone about the child sex offender disclosure scheme.
