Disaster advice
Devon and Cornwall Police is a member of the Local Resilience Forum (LRF). The LRF plans for major incidents and disasters. Various agencies work together to identify potential risks and produce emergency plans to either prevent or reduce the impact of any incident on local communities. Some of the major incidents previously dealt with include severe weather such as the snow and ice that affected the region, flooding in Cornwall, an unexploded bomb in Plymouth and the swine flu pandemic.
The LRF is a multi-agency partnership made up of representatives from local public services, including the emergency services, local authorities, the National Health Service and the Environment Agency. The LRF also works with other partners such as utility companies, the Highways Agency, the military and voluntary agencies when required.
The LRF website contains useful information on the work they do. It also has details on how you can do your bit to prepare for an emergency and what the agencies will do to keep you fully informed. A link can be found on the right hand side of this page.
