BikeSafe
BikeSafe 2012, dates are currently being arranged and will be published here shortly and on the national website.
BikeSafe is an initiative run by police forces around the UK who work with the whole of the biking world to help to lower the number of motorcycle rider casualties. By passing on their knowledge, skills and experience, police motorcyclists can help you become a safer and more competent rider. If you are interested in attending one of the sessions in 2012, which are carried out at various venues across our force area, please ring 01752 283453 for further details. To book please visit bikesafe.co.uk.
The dates for 2012 will appear here and on the National website shortly. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our coordinator Gary WILLIAMSON on the above number or email him at garyedward.williamson@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk
The BikeSafe sessions run by Devon and Cornwall Police are each one day in length, starting at about 10am and finishing around 4pm. They consist of an interactive classroom session in the morning looking at the main causes of potential collisions such as cornering, positioning and overtaking. This is followed by a break for lunch (which is sadly not provided) and then a three to three and a half hour on-road ride with constructive feedback given by the police motorcyclist. This is at a maximum ratio of two BikeSafe participants to one police motorcyclist but can sometimes be a one on one experience depending on numbers.
How much does it cost?
The BikeSafe sessions run by Devon and Cornwall are priced at £35 per person. Vouchers will be available to give as a present to a friend or loved one to enable them to come on a BikeSafe session and benefit from the experience.
