Man charged following alleged serious assault, Plymouth

Two remain in custody

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged serious assault in Plymouth city centre in the early hours of Saturday [13 April].

Police were called to Princess Street around 2.30am and located a 27-year-old local man with a serious arm injury believed to have been caused by a firearm.

Robert Worrell, 41, of no given address, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, possession of firearm when prohibited and robbery.

A 27-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident, along with a 46-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery and possession of a firearm. Both remain in custody.

Worrell is further charged with robbery, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and possession of firearm when prohibited in connection with an alleged robbery at an address in Prospect Street, Plymouth, on Friday 12 April.

Worrell is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today [15 April].
