Police appeal to identify victim

Police are appealing to identify and speak to the victim of a robbery in Newton Abbot.

The incident was reported to have happened at around 5.20pm on Tuesday 12 March on Wolborough Street.

It was reported that a man had took a handbag from a woman and left the scene on foot. He was detained by member of the public who called police.

A 17-year-old boy was reported arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Investigating officers are now appealing to identify and speak to the victim.

It’s believed that she collected her bag, which had been thrown to the floor, and left the scene before police arrived. Police are keen for her to come forward.

She is described as a white female, around 50-years-old and of slim build. She had shoulder length auburn hair and was carrying a large rectangular bag with a shoulder strap.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/022220/19.
