Police appeal for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information following a serious assault in Plymouth.

Police were called at around 2:25pm on Monday 5 March to reports of an altercation and at least one man believed to armed with a machete on Billacombe Road, near the junction to Stanborough Road.

Armed units were sent to the scene where one man and one woman, both in their 20s were found with serious injuries. The man had received a number of lacerations as a result of the incident. Both were taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.

The suspects are believed to have fled the scene and abandoned their vehicle in the Ivybridge area. It is thought that they have used a second vehicle from Ivybridge to vacate the area.

Police enquiries are ongoing into this matter.
