Police hope to find man in tweed jacket who helped at scene

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information over a fatal collision on the A390 at St Mewan, St Austell, on Saturday 16 March.

Officers have urged witnesses to come forward and, in particular, would like to find a man in a tweed jacket who helped with traffic control at the scene. 

Emergency services were called at around 5.30pm following a collision between a silver Jaguar XF and a green Mazda MX5 on the A390 near to the junction of Coliza Hill, Trelowth.

The driver of the Jaguar, a 26-year-old man from St Austell, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda, a 32-year-old man from Truro, was taken to Treliske Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for any witness to the collision, or people with dash-cam footage, to come forward.
