Missing diver from Plymouth
Police, on behalf of HM Coroner, have named the diver who went missing when diving in Plymouth on Saturday 3 August.
Peter Dahle , aged 56 and from Plymouth, was reported missing to the Coastguard at around lunchtime on Saturday. This was passed on to the police later that afternoon.
The RNLI Plymouth lifeboats, Salcombe lifeboat and HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Newquay, were sent to the scene to assist in a search for the missing diver. Plymouth Coastguard Rescue Team and Devon and Cornwall Police were also sent to assist.
Police have since been in contact with Falmouth Coastguard following their standing down of their searches which have ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Officers are supporting the family during this difficult time.
The wife of missing diver, Lindsey Dahle, said: "Sadly, I can confirm the extensive search for a diver missing off the South Devon Coast last weekend was for Pete.
“At this tragic time, my main concern is for the welfare and emotional well-being of our family.
“Within the next few weeks, we will work out how we wish to remember and celebrate Pete’s life for all those who loved and cherished him, and I know there is many.
“I would like to thank everyone for their condolences, support and understanding at this extremely heart-breaking time.”
