Family tribute to victim
The family of victim, Lee Turner [pictured with his son], who died on Friday 3 August in Barnstaple, have issued a tribute to his life.
A statement released from the Hamilton and Turner families said: “It is with a heavy, solemn and collective heart that we acknowledge and announce the death of Lee Richard Turner. Lee was a grandson, son, father, brother, friend and known by many. We, as his family, are all heartbroken and struggling to comprehend his untimely death.
“We take enormous comfort in the many positive stories we've received from his friends in Barnstaple, and the many people whose lives he has touched. He will be desperately missed.
“Lee's funeral will be held in Bristol in due course. We are fundraising to give him a fitting and poignant sendoff. All monies raised will be used for his funeral and anything left will be donated to a local charity in Lee's name. https://www.gofundme.com/lee-richard-turner.”
Police were contacted at around 6:20pm on Friday 3 August with reports of a man having been stabbed at the Barnstaple Retail Park on Station Road.
Lee Turner, aged 39, was later confirmed deceased at North Devon District Hospital.
50-year-old Kevin Gale, also known as Kevin Maloney from Barnstaple, was charged with murder and appeared before Exeter Magistrate’s Court on Monday 6 August.
