Update 0852 110621

The road reopened at 8.50am.

Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A30 between Loggans and Hayle at around 1.45am today (Friday 11 June.)

The collision was between a Volvo police vehicle and a silver VW Golf.

Ambulance, fire and additional police units attended the scene.

The driver of the VW golf, a man in his 20s was taken to Treliske Hospital with serious leg injuries. Two passengers from the same vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

Two police officers were also taken to hospital for treatment for suspected fractured bones.

The road remains closed in both directions to allow the emergency services to undertake scene investigation work.

It is expected that the closure will remain in place for a considerable amount of time; diversions are in place but they will lead to extended journey times.

An investigation will be carried out into the circumstances of the collision, and as per Force policy for incidents involving a police vehicle, this matter has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct(IOPC), and police Professional Standards Department.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police via or by phone on 101, quoting log number 0070 of 11/06/21.
