Police appeal after man suffers serious facial injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Barnstaple town centre in which a man suffered serious facial injuries.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident on the Old Barnstaple Bridge, at the end near North Devon Leisure Centre, between 3.34am and 4am on Sunday 7 April.

The victim was walking home from a night out when he was allegedly set upon by a number of men, punched to the floor and kicked and stamped on while he was on the ground. 

Any members of the public – particularly passing taxi drivers – who witnessed the incident are urged contact police.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in police custody.
