Fatal collision, Hayle
The family of 28-year-old Tom Griffin, who died following a collision on the A30 at Hayle on Tuesday 13 March 2018, have paid tribute:
His family said: “Tom was very thoughtful, a gentle soul and a loving father of twin girls, we loved him very much.
“With his incredible talent, he recently graduated with a degree in art and design. He always loved to cook and make things for all the family. Friends always talk fondly of him and of their fun times together.
“We will miss you Tom and you will always be in our hearts from your loving Mum, Dad and brothers Piers and Luke.”
At approximately 7.15pm, police were notified of a collision on the A30 Hayle bypass between the St Erth roundabout and the Loggans Moor roundabout in Hayle, Cornwall.
The incident involved a white commercial articulated heavy goods vehicle and a pedestrian who was in the Eastbound live lane.
As a result of the incident, the pedestrian, Tom Griffin, died at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the HGV was uninjured in the incident.
The road was closed for just under six hours while officers from the Roads Policing Team and Serious Collision Investigation Team carried out a forensic examination of the scene.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward quoting log number 718 13/03/18.
