Witnesses sought after racially-motivated assault in Exeter


Offender threatened to throw victim off bridge because of the colour of his skin

Police are appealing for witnesses following a racially-motivated assault in Exeter. 

The unprovoked attack happened between 1am and 2am at the bus stop in Queen Street, opposite Exeter Central Train Station, on Sunday 24 March.

The victim was approached by a white male described as being aged in his 40s or 50s, short and of stocky build. He had a bald head and was wearing a red jacket.

The offender told the victim he was going to throw him off the bridge because of his skin colour. He then started hitting the victim, causing him to fall to the floor, before trying to drag him away.

Police would like to speak to a witness came to the victim’s aid at the time.
