Appeal following fire at under-construction property in Devoran

Police investigating a suspected act of arson in Devoran, Truro, have issued an appeal for information.

Firefighters tackled a blaze at an under-construction property in Belmont Terrace which started between 6.30pm and 7.55pm on Monday 24 February.

The fire, which engulfed the entire timber-framed building, is believed to have been started deliberately and police enquiries are ongoing.

Extensive damage was caused and nothing could be salvaged from the property.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “The fire has had a major impact on the victim, leaving them fearful and anxious about what may happen next, affected the community and caused huge unrest in the village.”
