Woman named following fatal collision, Plymouth
Appeal for witnesses continues
The woman who died following a two vehicle collision on the A38 near Leigham, Plymouth, on Tuesday 11 September has been named as Briony Elliott, 54, from the Stoke area of the city.
Police were notified at around 6.30pm of the incident which happened on the eastbound carriageway and involved a heavy goods vehicle and an Audi A4.
It was reported that the female driver of the Audi was struck in the collision. Briony Elliott was located by officers at the scene and given first aid but she was later confirmed deceased.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.
A 33-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed for over eight hours. Officers would like to thank the public for their patience whist the investigation was carried out at the scene.
