Fatal collision, A361 near West Buckland
Police are appealing for dashcam footage
Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a collision in which a 9-year-old girl lost her life.
The two-vehicle collision happened on the A361 near to West Buckland on Sunday 30 July 2017.
Police were called at 11.30am to reports that a Vauxhall Vectra car travelling towards Barnstaple was involved in a collision with a green Ford Ranger 4x4 towing a cattle trailer in the Swimbridge area.
The Vauxhall driver, a woman in her 30s, was airlifted to Bristol Southmead Hospital with serious injuries. Her 7-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter were taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital. The 9-year-old girl passed away on Tuesday 1 August as a result of the collision.
Sgt Jane Corkhill said: “We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or anyone who was driving along the A361 in the Swimbridge area between 11.30am and midday on the 30th July.
“We are also very keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area and also want to speak to anyone who saw either vehicle in the area that morning and the manner of driving.”
Police from across the force area attended the scene and a full forensic scene and vehicle examination was carried out.
