Attempted murder Dawlish - man charged


Suspect remanded in custody

A man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident in Dawlish on Saturday 16th July.

The man was arrested after police were called to a rural property off Hensford Road, Dawlish at 8am on Saturday following reports of a man with a cross bow.

Officers attended the address along with an ambulance crew.

One man, aged 24 and from Dawlish was treated at the scene for a serious arm injury. He was initially taken to Torbay District Hospital but later transferred to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. His injuries, which are consistent with being shot with a crossbow, are described as potentially life changing.

A number of weapons, including a cross bow, were seized at the property.

Leo Michaels, age 35 and from Hensford Road, Dawlish was charged with attempted murder and wounding with intent. He appeared at Torquay Magistrates Court on Monday 18th July and was remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 18th August 2016.

Police can confirm both men are known to each other.
