One man sustained facial injuries

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following an assault in Plymouth.

Police were called at 4.55pm to Bainbridge Avenue on Sunday 7 April following reports of an altercation taking place.

Investigating officer, PC Tom Northmore said: “It is believed this incident began with a verbal dispute which took place between two adult men and a male and female teenager.

“Following the initial incident, a physical assault between the two men has taken place. A man in his 40 sustained serious facial injuries and was treated in hospital. As a result of is injuries he has lost sight in one of his eyes.

“We’re really keen to speak to the two teenagers, who it’s believed may have witnessed the later assault, and have information vital to the investigation. They left the scene prior to police arrival, on foot, in the direction of Hartley. They are described as being between the ages of 13 and 16.

I would stress that we wish to speak to the two teenagers as potential witnesses.

“There may be parents who are aware their children were in the area around this time or who may have mentioned something about this when returning home. I’d urge anyone with any information and anyone can help us identify the two teenagers to get in touch.”

A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/030630/19.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555111 or at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
