Witnesses sought by police

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the A30 at Penzance in the early hours of Saturday [3 August].

Emergency services were called just before 1am after the silver Peugeot 207 was in collision with a man walking along the northbound carriageway near to Morrisons.

The man, in his 40s, was taken to Treliske Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. Police are still trying to trace his next of kin.

The female driver of the car was uninjured. No other vehicle is thought to have been involved.

The road was closed for four hours while officers carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicle was recovered.

Police are investigating and seeking anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the man on the carriageway prior to the incident to contact them.
