Appeal after woman found collapsed, Ilfracombe

Police are appealing for information after a woman was found collapsed near an alleyway in Ilfracombe.

The incident took place between 2.55pm and 3.05pm on Sunday 7 July close to a public footpath off Horne Park Road.

The woman, who is aged in her 60s, lost consciousness while walking her dog along the lane.

She was found a short time later lying in a bush opposite the path by a passer-by, who alerted the emergency services.

The woman was taken to North Devon District Hospital and is now recovering at home.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the possibility that the woman could have been assaulted.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
