Witnesses sought to attempted knifepoint robberies, Newton Abbot
Police are appealing for witnesses after two attempted knifepoint robberies outside a Newton Abbot store.
The incidents happened outside Spar in Battle Road, Heathfield, around 8.45pm on Friday 24 November.
A female offender approached a woman at the shop doorway and asked her for the time before producing a weapon.
The female victim retreated inside the shop as a man was leaving and the offender then demanded his wallet on the steps of the shop.
The offender left empty-handed and made off on foot towards the alley at the Sparkworld side of the shop.
It is believed the offender, who was tall and dressed in men’s clothing, had been in the area for some time prior to the crimes and police are keen to trace any witnesses.
The offender is described as white and between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 11ins tall. She was wearing a blue or grey baseball cap, a khaki hip-length jacket, baggy blue baggy jeans, trainers, and was carrying a small white paper bag and a black drawstring bag.
Police have arrested a 30-year-old woman from Newton Abbot on suspicion of attempt robbery. She has been released under investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “We are keen to speak to anyone with any information or who may have seen the offender in the Heathfield area that evening. We would also like to reassure the public that this is an unusual isolated incident.”
