Update: Officer tests positive for Covid-19 on G7 operation

As part of a rigorous testing programme for police officers supporting the G7 security operation, during the early hours of 11 June, Devon and Cornwall Police identified one officer who had a positive lateral flow test for Covid-19. That officer has since tested positive following a PCR test.

The officer, plus ten other officers who have come into close contact, are isolating as per Government rules. Throughout the G7 operation, officers committed to the policing the event will be subject to a testing regime in order to minimise transmission of the virus.

We wish the officer a quick recovery and thank them for their support to this operation.

Officers self-isolating

As part of our testing regime, during the early hours of 11 June we have identified one officer who is currently supporting G7 policing and accommodated on the ferry, has given a positive lateral flow test for COVID-19.

The officer, plus those who have come into close contact, are currently self-isolating at another designated location.

All who have come into close contact or are in the bubble of those who tested positive are also currently self-isolating which equates to 12 officers in total. The next stage is for those who have tested positive to undertake a PCR test.

We are continuing to follow the advice of Public Health England.
