Assault on Cathedral Close, Exeter

One person arrested

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Exeter.

At around 8.20pm on Monday 10 September, an altercation took place outside Tea on the Green on the Cathedral Close.

The victim, a 45-year-old local man was punched unconscious and had a bottle thrown at him. He has sustained serious facial injuries and remains in hospital following surgery.

A 36-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area, or who witnessed the assault.
