Elderly woman dies in fatal collision, Paignton

Witnesses sought by police
A 92-year-old woman has died after being in collision with a car in Paignton yesterday [5 December].
Emergency services were called just before 5pm after the collision between a beige Citroen Xsara Picasso and the woman on Esplanade Road.
The woman, from Paignton, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Torbay District Hospital where she died later that evening as a result of her injuries.
The front seat passenger in the Citroen, an 81-year-old year old woman from Brixham was treated for minor injuries at Torbay Hospital but later released. The elderly male driver from Brixham was uninjured.
A bronze-coloured Kia Ceed, driven by a 51-year-old Paignton woman, was travelling behind the Citroen at the time of the incident and the two vehicles were involved in a further minor collision. The occupants of the Kia were uninjured.
Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team along with a forensic collision investigator and a scenes of crime officer attended the scene.
The road was closed for six hours while a full examination was carried out to establish the cause of the collision.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
