Family tribute

The family of an 87-year-old Falmouth man who died when the vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision in Bodmin on Wednesday 1 January, have paid tribute to a ‘loving’ man.

Norman Brian Pedlar [known as Brian] was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision on the A30 at Lanivet.

His family have said the following: “Brian was a devoted loving Christian husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to all he met and will be greatly missed by all. He was a lifelong supporter of Plymouth Argyle and served in the Devon & Cornwall Police, which he had many stories about. He was also a very well-known driving instructor extraordinaire in Falmouth.”

The collision involved two vehicles, a grey Citroen and a HGV, on the Westbound carriageway at around 6pm. Brian had been driving the Citroen. The occupants of the HGV were uninjured.

Several other vehicles travelling on the Eastbound carriageway were damaged due to debris from the collision.

The A30 was closed in both directions whilst a forensic examination of the complex and extended collision scene was conducted.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or have dash camera footage to contact police, quoting the log number 934 01/01/20.
