Appeal

Two seriously injured

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information following a serious collision near Fowey.

The incident happened at around 11.25pm on the A3082 Four Turnings, Fowey on Saturday 25 August.

Two pedestrians were in collision with a white Peugeot as they walked along the side of the road. The car failed to stop at the scene.

A 42-year-old man from Liskeard sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford hospital by Search and Rescue helicopter. His condition is described as critical but stable.

A 43-year-old woman from Looe, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford hospital by land ambulance. She has since been released from hospital.

The vehicle and driver, a 28-year-old woman, were located a short time later. The vehicle was seized by officers and the woman was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst above the alcohol limit. She was taken into custody and later released under investigation pending further enquires.

The road was closed for four hours whilst emergency services attended the scene.

It’s believed that a BMW taxi, carrying passengers, was travelling behind the Peugeot and may have witnessed the incident. Officers are appealing for the driver and passengers to contact police.
