Road Traffic Collision

Appeal for witnesses

Police investigating a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Queensway, Shiphay, Torquay on Thursday 25 November are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police were called to reports of a collision at around 3.35pm involving a Volkswagen Bora and an 11-year-old child near the junction with Ben Jonson Close.

South West Ambulance Service and Devon and Cornwall Police attended the incident.

The child sustained significant head and pelvic injuries and was initially taken to Torbay District Hospital before being transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.

Queensway was closed for seven hours while police investigated the circumstances of the collision.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information or dashcam footage that could help with their enquiries, to please email 101@dc.police.uk or call 101, quoting 0530 of 25/11/21.
