Three taken to hospital

Witnesses are sought to a serious collision in Carclaze, St Austell, yesterday morning [9 September] in which three people were injured, one critically.

Emergency services were called at 6.45am following the collision between a silver BMW, a blue Fiat 500 Abarth and a grey Audi A3 on the A391.

Three people sustained injuries and were taken to Treliske Hospital.

The driver of the Audi, a man in his 20s from St Austell, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and was later transferred to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The BMW driver, a man in his 40s from the Par area, and his male passenger were both treated for minor injuries.

The Fiat driver was uninjured.

Police closed the road for eight-and-a-half hours while a specialist examination of the scene took place.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended and are appealing for witnesses as part of the investigation into the collision.
