Money demanded from boy at knifepoint

Police in North Devon are appealing for witnesses following an attack on a teenager in Barnstaple.

At around 7.45am on Monday 13 January, a 14-year-old boy was confronted by an older man armed with a knife in the footpath between Ashleigh Road, Fort Street and Sunset Heights.

The man demanded money from the boy and when he refused, attacked him with a knife causing wounds to his stomach. The man then fled the area.

The attacker has been described as a white male, aged between 50 and 60 years old, with scruffy grey hair no longer than an inch in length, thick grey eyebrows, with a mark on his cheek just under his eye.

He was wearing a black beanie hat, a black leather jacket with several pockets on the front, dark blue jeans which appeared dirty, and black running style shoes with white soles.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have seen anything which could assist with their enquiries.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV cameras attached to their business or residential properties in the area, including those activated by movement, particularly on Sunset Heights, to get in touch.

In addition, officers would like to hear from any drivers in the area who may have dash cam footage which could assist with their investigation.
