Elderly man dies following A361 collision, South Molton

An 82-year-old man from Winkleigh has died following injuries sustained in a serious collision on the A361 in north Devon last year.

Emergency services were called on 7 August 2017 to a collision between a Vauxhall Zafira and a Scania tipper lorry at North Molton junction near South Molton.

Mr John Pope, the driver of the Vauxhall Zafira, sustained life-threatening chest and head injuries and was taken to North Devon District Hospital.

Police have been notified that Mr Pope died on 10 January in Worcestershire as a result of the injuries caused in the collision.

Devon and Cornwall Police are now investigating the A361 incident as a fatal collision and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
