Force shares real time updates from the frontline

This Saturday 10 August, from 6pm, Devon and Cornwall Police will be offering its social media followers a unique front row seat to a demanding shift in Exeter as the Force shares real time updates on the work of a busy frontline response unit.

The Force is currently receiving thousands of calls for assistance every day during the busy summer period and is aiming to educate members of the public about the volume and variety of demand faced in policing a busy urban town with a thriving night-time economy.

You’ll be able to follow the work of PC Naomi Cox and PC Rich Lander via the hashtag #DCPoliceLIVE on Twitter (@DC_Police), Facebook (Devon & Cornwall Police) and Instagram (@dc_police.999) with regular updates shared throughout the shift.

Last week alone, Devon and Cornwall Police recorded 5,178 incidents requesting police attendance and 2,355 crimes.

Chief Inspector Stu Cavin said: “Many people may never come into contact with policing services, but it is important that our residents understand the demands facing officers every day.

“We know from the popularity of police television documentaries that members of the public enjoy getting a better understanding of the work of the police and we’re keen to highlight what typically happens in a busy shift for our officers responding to 999 calls here in Devon and Cornwall.

“I’m very proud of the work of our dedicated teams and I hope members of the public will find this an interesting insight. I look forward to seeing your feedback on our social media accounts.”

Follow updates throughout the evening on social media using the hashtag #DCPoliceLIVE from 6pm.
