Witnesses sought by police

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A361 near to Stoodleigh Cross, Tiverton, in which a man died.

Emergency services were called at 3.10am on Friday [11 May] following the collision between a silver Vauxhall Astra and a green and yellow Scania HGV.

The Astra driver, believed to be a 27-year-old man from Barnstaple, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Formal identification has yet to be carried out.

The lorry driver was uninjured but was taken to hospital suffering from shock.

The road was closed for 17 hours while a full investigation of the scene was completed and enquiries are continuing to determine the cause of the collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and asking anyone with information to contact them via or by phone on 101, quoting log number 68 of 11/05/18.
