Young girl died at the scene

A young cyclist who died in a fatal collision near Stithians at the weekend has been named as 14-year-old Caitlin Swan.

Emergency services were called to Tubbon Hill at 1.45pm on Saturday [28 December] after her bicycle was in collision with a van.

Caitlin, from the Truro area and a pupil at Penair School, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Local officers and officers from the Roads Policing Team attended, along with paramedics.

The road was closed for more than six hours for a forensic examination of the scene to be carried out.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant dash cam footage of the incident.
