Family members in Bulgaria are aware of the incident

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to investigate how a man came to be struck by a number of vehicles on the southbound carriageway of the M5 in Devon on Tuesday 13 February.

We believe the man in question had been a passenger in a Citroen van travelling on the M5; we are not currently treating his death as suspicious.

Police enquiries indicate that the man was from Bulgaria who had travelled to the UK to obtain employment.

Family members in Bulgaria are aware of the incident and will be assisting the police with the formal identification process, and it is anticipated that this process may take several weeks to resolve.
