Police appealing to the public for CCTV and dashcam footage

Officers in Newquay are appealing to the public for CCTV and dashcam footage following a serious assault in the area.

Police were called to the Henver Road area of Newquay just before 1pm on Thursday 10 September following reports of a violent incident within a property.

Police units and ambulance attended and found one man in his 40s having sustained injuries to his head. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

A 33-year-old local man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of actual bodily harm; he has since been released on police bail until Tuesday 6 October.

A police spokesperson said: “We have launched an investigation into this incident, and as part of this we have undertaken a number of enquiries. Whilst further suspects are still outstanding, we currently believe that this is an isolated incident.

“We are appealing to the public for their assistance and would like to hear from anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage, especially relating to the areas including Hillgrove Road, Henver Road, St Anne’s and Chester Road areas of Newquay that could assist us with our enquiries.

“We are also particularly interested to hear from anyone who saw a VW white van in and around the area during the time of the assault, as we believe this could be key to our investigation.”

Anyone with any information, including CCTV local to the area that may assist with our enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting crime reference CR/076086/20.

People are reminded that information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
