Late on Saturday 6February, police were alerted to a disturbance in Honicknowle Lane, Plymouth, by the ambulance service.
Two males who are known to each other had been involved in an altercation in the street.
One male was taken to Derriford Hospital where he received treatment. His condition is described as stable.
This is an isolated incident and the police are not looking for any other suspects.
Officers from the local policing team will be in the area today conducting reassurance patrols and seeking to identify any witnesses in the area.
Detectives at Charles Cross Police Station are investigating this incident and would ask that any members of the public who have any information that may assist the police investigation, to contact 101 and quote log number 36 of 7 February 2021.
