Pedestrian in critical condition

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Bideford on Sunday [12 August] which left a female pedestrian critically injured.

Emergency services were called around 1.20am after the woman was in collision with a silver Ford Mondeo on the A386 Churchill Way at Northam.

The woman, aged 39 and from Bideford, sustained a life-threatening head injury and was taken to North Devon District Hospital. She was later transferred to Derriford Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

The car driver, a 69-year-old man from Bideford, was uninjured in the collision.

The road was closed overnight for more seven-and-a-half hours while a forensic examination of the scene took place and the vehicle was recovered.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log 0084 of 12/08/2018.
