The Firearms & Explosives Licencing Unit have provided the following information:

I would like to know how many shotgun licence renewals are in the current log jam in the system and how far they date back. At whatever rate per day are they being reissued or denied.

Shotgun renewals outstanding: 3524

(This includes standard section 2 shotgun renewals and co-term renewals only.)

The Firearms & Explosives Licencing Unit are working on renewals dated November 2021.

In terms of the rate at which they are being ‘reissued or denied’, please see the data below:

01/01/2023 – 31/01/2023 – 0 refused / 219 renewed.

01/02/2023 – 28/02/2023 – 5 refused / 201 renewed.

01/03/2023 – 31/03/2023 – 13 refused / 287 renewed.

01/04/2023 – 30/04/2023 – 3 refused / 175 renewed.

01/05/2023 – 31/05/2023 – 1 refused / 372 renewed.

01/06/2023 – 30/06/2023 – 5 refused / 263 renewed.

01/07/2023 – 31/07/2023 – 6 refused / 188 renewed.

01/08/2023 – 22/08/2023 – 8 refused / 161 renewed.
