Digital Capabilities Unit - The DCU has responsibility for the investigation of complex and serious internet related crimes, sometime referred to as eCrime, digital crime, or more commonly Cybercrime. It is also responsible for providing a coordinated response to such crime types through technical training, advice and assistance to other force personnel. |
MCIT - They provide the Force with the ability to deal with homicides, stranger rapes, abductions, kidnaps and all other major crimes that are allocated by the Force Tasking Process. |
PPU – POLIT – Paedophile online investigation team. It is responsible for dealing with the following criminal activity: · Section 15 Sexual Offences Act 2003 Grooming · Complex distribution of indecent images of children · Very High, High Risk and Sensitive IIOC investigations · Predatory and travelling child sex offenders · Offenders known to be extensively networking within our Force area. |
PPU - Local Safeguarding Investigation Team - The Local Safeguarding Investigation Teams (LSITs) have responsibility for safeguarding children and investigating child abuse allegations. Local Safeguarding Investigators will follow up all criminal investigations relating to child abuse where the suspect is in a position of trust or responsibility in relation to that child (under 18 years of age). This can include a parent, carer, family member, babysitter or youth worker.

PPU – MOSOVO - MOSOVO stands for the Management of Sexual and Violent Offenders. The MOSOVO team manage both registered sex offenders (RSOs) and violent offenders under MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements) and offenders who are identified by Devon and Cornwall Police as being potentially dangerous persons (PDP's) |
SOCB - Financial Investigation Financial investigation and the tools provided by The Proceeds of Crime Act provide an effective means to reduce acquisitive crime by substantially disrupting and deterring criminality. By recovering the proceeds of crime, investigators disrupt a criminal ability to fund further crime and remove their incentive by creating a continued deterrent. |
SOCB - Crime Investigation - SOCB comprises of several individual based teams across the force who are tasked with pursuing the highest threat through serious and organised criminality and engaging with the force and partners in order to prepare for when such crime exists, protecting communities and individuals and preventing reoccurrence. This includes for example: modern day slavery and trafficking, child and adult safeguarding, county lines, dangerous drug networks, economic crime / fraud, cyber-crime, criminal use of firearms and other identified harm. |

SOCB - Cyber Crime Investigation – sub department of SOCB (above) who investigate cyber crime |
SOCB - Road Crime Unit – (part of SOCB) conduct intelligence driven disruption and investigation. |
SOCB - Drug Expert Witness (drug liaison) – sub department of SOCB. Provide evidence of drug testing and identification, produce evidence of drug dealing and distribution. |

Detectives are recruited internally by recruiting from response constables, via transferees from other forces, via the DHEP DC route and occasionally Police Now.
