The officer breached standards of professional behaviour:
This was in respect of three allegations:
1. The Officer upon attending a domestic abuse incident was advised that the father was the victim of crime.
The Officer failed to undertake the “DASH” procedure and recorded that the father had refused to engage with the procedure this was found to be untrue.
The Officer made a statement on the 3rd April 2020 which stated that the Father had refused to engage with the DASH process and that he took the children’s details. This was found to be untrue.
The panel found that: The allegations were proved.
The officer breached the following standards of professional behaviour: -
Honesty and Integrity; Duties and Responsibilities & Authority Respect and Courtesy.
2. The officer was a member of a private WhatsApp group. On the 11 September 2020 the officer accessed a police log for a non-policing purpose and while on restricted duties and shared confidential information with other members of the group about serious injuries suffered by a police officer to which the log referred and he knew he should not do so.
The panel found: The allegations were proved.
The officer breached the following standards of professional behaviour: -
Authority Respect and Courtesy & Confidentiality
The other allegation relating to honesty and integrity was not found to be proved.
3. On the 24th and 25th March 2020 carried out a Police National Computer check for a nonpolicing purpose when he knew he should not do so. When carrying out the check the officer recorded that the check had been carried out on the A.30 and he knew this to be untrue.
The Panel found the allegation proved.
That the officer breached the following standards of professional behaviour: -
Honesty and Integrity, Orders and instructions & Confidentiality.
The Panel found that each of the allegations whether taken individually or combined that the officers conduct amounted to Gross Misconduct.
The panel further found operational dishonesty on the part of the officer.
Therefore, the only appropriate outcome was immediate dismissal.
