Former SC Calvert

An investigation was conducted in relation to allegations concerning former SC Calvert’s conduct as a special constable. It is alleged that his behaviour has fallen below the Standards of Professional Behaviour in that whilst SC Calvert was a serving officer:

1. On the 2^nd September 2022, SC Calvert was convicted of the following criminal offences:

On the 24^th May 2022, SC Calvert was found to be in possession of a prohibited weapon namely Saxby Palmer Revolver contrary to Section 5(1) of The Firearms Act 1968, possession of a prohibited weapon namely a stun/gun taser device contrary to Section 5(1) of the Firearms Act 1968, possession of a prohibited weapon namely incapacitant spray contrary to Section 5(1) of The Firearms Act 1968 and possession of a prohibited weapon namely a sword-stick disguised as a walking stick contrary to Section 141(1A) Of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
3. On the 24^th May 2022 SC Calvert had stored at your home address, your police issue PAVA incapacitant spray, in breach of Devon and Cornwall Force Policy.

This is a breach of the Police Officer’s Standards of Professional Behaviour, namely:

Honesty and Integrity - Police officers are honest, act with integrity and do not compromise or abuse their position.

Authority, Respect and Courtesy - Police officers act with self-control and tolerance, treating members of the public and colleagues with respect and courtesy.

Discreditable Conduct - Police officers behave in a manner which does not discredit the police service or undermine public confidence in it, whether on or off duty.

Orders and Instructions - Police officers abide by police regulations, force policies and lawful orders.

Former SC Calvert will therefore attend an Accelerated Misconduct Hearing at Bodmin Police Station on 27^th March 2023 at 1400 hours
